District by Zomato Introduces Splitpay to Simplify Group Dining Payments

District by Zomato has launched Splitpay, a new in-app feature designed to make bill settlements easier during group dining experiences. The feature enables diners to instantly split and pay their share of a restaurant bill directly through the District app, eliminating the need for post-meal calculations, payment reminders, or multiple money transfers.

With group outings often ending in debates over who owes what, Splitpay aims to remove the friction associated with shared expenses. Users can simply enter the total bill amount, select the number of people at the table, and divide the payment equally or customise individual shares based on consumption. Each participant can then complete their payment within a few taps on the app.

The feature also rewards every diner with cashback on their individual contribution, extending benefits beyond the person who traditionally pays the entire bill.

Commenting on the launch, Rahul Ganjoo, CEO of District by Zomato, said the company identified bill-splitting as a common pain point in social dining. He noted that Splitpay is designed to make the payment process as seamless as the dining experience itself, allowing users to focus on enjoying time with friends rather than settling expenses.

To support the launch, District has rolled out a campaign film featuring veteran actors Boman Irani and Anupam Kher. The film humorously captures the familiar struggle of friends competing to pay the bill, escalating into a comic showdown before introducing Splitpay as a simpler alternative.

With the new feature, District by Zomato continues to expand its offerings aimed at streamlining the entire going-out experience, from discovering venues to settling the bill.
