Greenply Industries has launched TermiVax, a new anti-termite plywood technology built on nanotechnology, and has filed a patent application for the innovation. Unlike conventional solutions that rely on surface coatings or post-installation chemical treatments, TermiVax is designed to deliver termite protection throughout the entire plywood board, not just on its exterior.
The technology works by integrating a nanotechnology-based compound directly into the plywood during the manufacturing process. This allows the protective layer to run through the full depth of the board, including sections that are cut or drilled later during installation – areas that typically remain vulnerable under traditional surface-based treatments. Greenply said the product has been tested and certified by the Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute (IPIRTI).
The launch is timed against a persistent pain point for Indian homeowners: termite infestation, which tends to worsen in humid and damp conditions, especially during the monsoon season.
Speaking on the launch, Sanidhya Mittal, joint managing director, Greenply Industries, said the company’s innovation has always aimed at solving real consumer problems through meaningful technology, calling termite damage one of the biggest concerns for Indian homeowners given the country’s climate. He added that the launch reflects Greenply’s push to raise industry benchmarks with more advanced and durable solutions for long-lasting home interiors.
TermiVax will be rolled out across Greenply’s core Green plywood portfolio, spanning Greenply Marine 710, Greenply Gold, Greenply Platinum, Greenply Club 500 and Greenply Club 700 – positioning the innovation as a brand-wide upgrade rather than a standalone product line.
