Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has launched a new campaign, “Not a Gentleman’s Game,” featuring India women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, ahead of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026. The film takes direct aim at cricket’s old-world “gentleman’s game” label, choosing instead to spotlight the grit, aggression and relentless preparation that define India’s women cricketers today.
The narrative opens with a clip of Amitabh Bachchan describing cricket as a gentleman’s game, a line Harmanpreet promptly pushes back on with her now-viral declaration: “Na hum gentle hain, aur na hi humara game.” From there, the film cuts through training drills, strength and conditioning sessions, bruised hands, electric match days and packed stadiums, building up to India’s World Cup-winning moment. The underlying message is simple and unambiguous – victory doesn’t have a gender, only a colour, and that colour is blue.
The timing is deliberate. India walks into the Women’s T20 Asia Cup as reigning world champions, and the campaign is designed to stoke anticipation for their title defence. The tournament runs in the UAE from August 28 to September 13, with a high-stakes India-Pakistan fixture set for September 5.
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head, Sports and International at SPNI, said the campaign captures the team’s confidence through Harmanpreet and reflects a squad that has made the country believe, adding that the network is set to deliver the tournament’s intensity to viewers.
The campaign will air across Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV throughout the tournament window.
