JioHotstar has expanded its international footprint with launches in the UK, Canada and Singapore, marking a significant step in JioStar’s ambition to build a global entertainment platform.
The service brings its “Infinite Possibilities” proposition to international audiences with more than 160,000 hours of programming across 12+ languages and multiple genres. Alongside its content library, JioHotstar is positioning its international offering around personalised recommendations, interactive viewing features and flexible subscription options.
The platform is particularly aimed at the South Asian diaspora, while also seeking to attract global audiences interested in Indian stories, languages and culture. JioHotstar plans to add more than 30,000 hours of fresh content every year.
The launch line-up includes new originals such as Ali Baba Aur Chaalis Bhoot, Prince of Mollywood, Part Timers and The Court, alongside blockbuster movie premieres. Reality programming also gets an interactive upgrade, with viewers in the three markets able to participate in live voting across six-language editions of Bigg Boss. Select markets will additionally receive 24×7 live feeds and early access to episodes.
The service will also carry popular programming from JioStar channels including Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha and Star Pravah. Viewers in Singapore and Canada will get early access to select shows, while UK audiences can watch certain programmes alongside their television broadcast.
JioHotstar is also emphasising discovery, with a modern interface, personalised recommendations and subtitles and dubbing across multiple Asian languages.
Amit Malhotra, head of international business, JioStar, said the company aims to go beyond exporting Indian content, instead creating a more interactive and culturally diverse streaming experience for audiences worldwide.
