Molecular Spoofs Foxtale’s Celebrity Playbook With a Lookalike and a ₹500 Paycheck

A celebrity in white, seated in a vanity room, humming through a skincare routine – it’s a scene Foxtale made familiar with Shah Rukh Khan. Now skincare brand Molecular has recreated it almost beat for beat, minus one crucial ingredient: the actual celebrity.

Molecular’s new film stars SRK lookalike Ibrahim Qadri in a cheeky riff on Foxtale’s recent campaign, mirroring the vanity setup, skincare routine and tune, but flipping the narrative into a joke about budget. The lookalike tells viewers the brand couldn’t afford a big spend, revealing he was paid just Rs 500, before the ad pokes fun at itself for supposedly investing in product formulation over celebrity fees.

The self-aware gamble appears to be paying off, with the video already crossing 10 million views, per the brand – proof that a sharp idea and a convincing lookalike can travel almost as far as star power.

The timing is no accident. Foxtale recently signed Shah Rukh Khan as ambassador across its serum, moisturiser, sunscreen and mask range, alongside a new “Let Your Glow Through” philosophy; its own campaign has racked up over 37 million views.

Molecular sits under BTM Ventures, founded by Trisha Reddy Talasani, which also owns Reginald Men. Honasa Consumer, Mamaearth’s parent, acquired a majority stake in BTM Ventures in December 2025, and recently named Shivang Jain CEO to lead the next growth phase.

So despite the ad’s low-budget punchline, Molecular now operates within a considerably larger beauty ecosystem – leaving the real question: can the product live up to the joke?
