MS Dhoni Joins Cars24’s Crashfree India, Elevating Road Safety Mission

Cars24 has appointed MS Dhoni as the Goodwill Ambassador for its national road safety initiative, Crashfree India-marking a significant step in pushing the conversation beyond awareness to accountability.

More than a typical celebrity association, Dhoni’s involvement brings credibility and conviction to the initiative. Known for his calm leadership and disciplined decision-making, his persona aligns closely with the core message of road safety-where judgment, patience, and responsibility play a critical role.

India continues to face a severe road safety crisis, recording one of the highest numbers of traffic fatalities globally. In 2024 alone, over 1.8 lakh lives were lost, with a majority of victims aged between 18 and 34. Overspeeding remains a leading cause, highlighting the urgent need for behavioural change alongside policy and infrastructure improvements.

Dhoni, who has long been associated with automobiles and driving, emphasised the importance of responsibility on the road. He noted that while vehicles offer freedom, they also demand discipline and respect-qualities often overlooked in everyday driving behaviour.

For Cars24, Crashfree India reflects a broader responsibility that comes with enabling millions of vehicle transactions. The company aims to integrate safety into everyday mobility conversations, encouraging individuals to rethink their driving habits and priorities.

Founder and CEO Vikram Chopra highlighted that the mission requires more than surface-level advocacy. Dhoni’s no-nonsense approach and real-world understanding of Indian roads, he said, bring the seriousness needed to challenge complacency.

With Dhoni on board, Crashfree India evolves from a campaign into a long-term movement-focused on shifting culture from carelessness to accountability, and from reaction to prevention.
