Bengaluru, 28th October 2026: PhonePe has rebranded its homegrown app marketplace, Indus Appstore, as PhonePe Appstore. The platform has now reached over 200 million (20+ crore) devices, driven largely by OEM partnerships, with Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Karnataka and Telangana emerging as its top five states by adoption.
Its catalogue includes popular apps such as ChatGPT, Duolingo, ShareChat and Sony LIV, alongside games like Honor of Kings and Hitwicket, with social, action and simulation titles leading the gaming categories. The platform is also moving beyond app discovery to become a marketplace for digital goods and services, offering gift cards and top-ups with attractive offers. It will use PhonePe’s secure payment infrastructure to simplify how users find and buy digital products.
Priya Narasimhan, Chief Business Officer, PhonePe Appstore, said, “Rebranding Indus Appstore to PhonePe Appstore is a major milestone in our journey and brings in the trust and reach of the PhonePe brand. Developers can look beyond simple app discovery and unlock new ways to earn, including ads, gift cards, and top-ups.”
The company is also launching phonepeappstore.com, a webstore for buying digital goods on desktop and mobile browsers without downloading an app. Digital Top-ups, enabling instant purchase of in-game currencies, dating app boosts and tech top-ups, are in the pipeline, with gaming top-ups rolling out first.
