The Hall of Fame class honours people whose influence goes beyond the work they created to the people, careers and creative movements they helped shape. The organisation recognised Pandey for transforming Indian advertising by bringing the language, humour and humanity of everyday India into the heart of brand storytelling.
Ogilvy, where Pandey spent over four decades, marked the honour on Instagram. Its message said, “Some leaders build campaigns. Piyush Pandey built people.” It added that his legacy lives on in the generations of creatives he shaped with kindness and respect, calling it a beautifully enduring human legacy.
Pandey joined Ogilvy in 1982 as a trainee account executive and moved to the creative department six years later. In 2019, he was appointed the agency’s Global Chief Creative Officer, a role that placed an Indian storyteller at the top of a global network.
His most enduring work includes ads for Fevicol, Cadbury Dairy Milk’s ‘Asli Swaad Zindagi Ka’ and the government’s Pulse Polio campaign. Each drew on ordinary Indian life rather than borrowed formulas, and each became part of the country’s everyday vocabulary.
The Hall of Fame induction adds a global honour to a career that shaped how Indian brands speak to their audiences. Pandey received the Padma Shri in 2016 and was posthumously awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2026.
