Pocket FM Shuts Down Microdrama Vertical, Refocuses on Audio Entertainment

Pocket FM is winding down Pocket TV, its microdrama business, as the company shifts its focus back to audio entertainment and international expansion, according to a report by The Economic Times. The move comes as Pocket FM explores a potential public listing and works to strengthen its position in the audio storytelling space.

Pocket TV had marked Pocket FM’s entry into the fast-growing microdrama segment, a category that has seen rising competition from both domestic and global players. However, the company has chosen to consolidate resources around its core audio business, which continues to drive growth across India, the US, and Europe.

The shift comes despite strong recent momentum for Pocket FM. The company reported crossing $400 million in annual recurring revenue in FY26 and reached $450 million ARR by April 2026, driven by its microtransaction-led business model and AI-powered content creation ecosystem.

Pocket FM has also continued investing in AI tools for content production, localisation, and creator support. The platform currently operates across more than 20 countries and works with over 300,000 creators, with audio storytelling positioned as its primary growth driver going forward.

The exit from microdramas is part of a broader restructuring effort at the company. In recent months, Pocket FM has streamlined operations, trimmed parts of its workforce, and begun exploring a reverse flip to India as it evaluates a potential domestic IPO.

With Pocket TV’s closure, Pocket FM appears to be doubling down on an audio-first, internationally focused strategy, even as competition across India’s digital content space continues to intensify.
