Prime Video has announced March 13 as the global premiere date for its upcoming Tamil Original comedy-drama series Local Times. The seven-episode show will stream in India and across 240 countries and territories worldwide in Tamil with English subtitles, exclusively on the platform. The series stars Rishikanth, Abdool Lee, Maurish Dass, Adwitha Arumugam, R. Pandiarajan, Chinni Jayanth, Rini, and Nandhitha Sreekumar in key roles.
Set against the backdrop of a struggling weekly newspaper, Local Times follows four friends-Veera, Azhagu, Valli, and Muthu-who are determined to revive Namma Seidhi, a once-respected local publication owned by Veera’s grandfather. Despite limited resources and constant challenges, the group refuses to give up on their dream of preserving the paper’s legacy in an increasingly digital media landscape. The recently released trailer offers a glimpse into their chaotic yet heartfelt journey, filled with humour, friendship, and unexpected twists as they face both internal conflicts and an external rival determined to shut them down.
The series is directed by Naveen George Thomas in his directorial debut and produced by Jithin Thorai under the banner of Fanboy Production. It is written by Praveen Muthurangan and created by Abbhinav Kastura along with Praveen Muthurangan, Satwik Gade, Thomas Manuel, and Visvaksen P. Developed by Anekdotes, the show blends light-hearted comedy with emotional storytelling rooted in everyday aspirations.
With its relatable characters, newsroom setting, and themes of resilience and friendship, Local Times aims to deliver an engaging and breezy viewing experience. The series continues Prime Video’s focus on bringing distinctive regional stories to audiences across India and around the world.
