Japanese wellness brand ILEM Japan has appointed Sara Tendulkar as brand ambassador for its Japanese tea category in India, in a partnership that feels less like a celebrity signing and more like a natural alignment of values.

The collaboration centres around ILEM Japan’s premium tea portfolio – ceremonial matcha, sencha, hojicha, hojicha powder, and genmaicha – all made in Japan using first-harvest leaves sourced from Kagoshima Prefecture and packed in biodegradable Soilon tea bags made from plant-based materials. The brand itself is plant-based and cruelty-free, manufactured in Japan in partnership with local producers.

Founded in Tokyo in 2022 by Ishvani Patel, ILEM Japan has built its identity around wellness, mindfulness, and intentional everyday rituals – a philosophy that Sara Tendulkar naturally embodies for her generation.

Patel articulated the fit well: “Sara represents a generation that is becoming far more conscious about wellness, balance, and creating intentional rituals in everyday life – which is exactly what our Japanese Tea category stands for. There is a sense of trust and authenticity people associate with her, and that makes this collaboration very meaningful for us.”
