Sintex has launched a new campaign that builds on its long-standing association with India’s water tank category. Conceptualised by Sideways, the campaign uses a familiar retail interaction to reinforce Sintex’s position as the original water tank brand.
Built around the insight that “Sintex” has become synonymous with water tanks, the campaign highlights how consumers often use the brand name while referring to the category, including when considering products from competing brands. The communication turns this everyday behaviour into a humorous reminder: while several brands now make water tanks, there is only one original Sintex.
The campaign focuses on the power of brand recall at the point of purchase, while drawing attention to Sintex’s five-decade legacy in India’s water storage market. Rather than relying on a conventional product-led message, the campaign uses a relatable retail moment to make its point.
Yashovardhan Agarwal, director, Sintex and managing director, Welspun BAPL, said the campaign celebrates the trust and recognition the brand has built over generations. He noted that the familiar association of “Tanki Matlab Sintex” represents perceptions of quality, durability and reliability, while the campaign also seeks to distinguish the original brand from the wider category.
Abhijit Avasthi, founder, Sideways, said the challenge for a brand that becomes synonymous with its category is preventing its name from becoming generic. The agency chose a simple, recognisable retail situation to reinforce the distinction.
The campaign marks a renewed brand-building effort for Sintex, leveraging its strong recall and legacy while reminding consumers to look beyond the category name and choose the original brand.
