Sony AATH will stream the knockout stages of the Durand Cup with a dedicated Bangla commentary feed, catering to the channel’s Bengali-speaking audience.
The channel will stream both semi-finals on August 19 and August 20, followed by the final on August 23. The first semi-final airs from 7pm to 9pm on August 19, with the second semi-final following in the same time slot the next day. The final will be streamed from 5pm to 7pm on August 23.
The knockout stage line-up was decided after the quarter-finals, which saw East Bengal, NorthEast United FC, Shillong Lajong FC, Jamshedpur FC, Mohun Bagan, Indian Army, SC Delhi and FC Raengdai progress to the next round – setting up what promises to be a closely watched set of fixtures given the presence of marquee clubs like East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.
The Bangla commentary feed is designed specifically for Sony AATH’s Bengali-speaking viewers, allowing them to follow the tournament’s business end in their preferred language rather than relying solely on English or Hindi broadcasts. With this initiative, the channel will stream all three remaining matches of the tournament – the two semi-finals and the final – entirely in Bangla.
The move underlines Sony AATH’s continued focus on regional-language sports coverage as a way to deepen engagement with football audiences in Bengal, a region with a longstanding and passionate football culture centred around clubs like East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.
