SPNI Secures Broadcast Rights for Asian Games 2026, Expands Sports Portfolio

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has acquired the media rights for the Asian Games 2026, set to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The multi-sport event will be broadcast across Sony Sports Network channels and streamed digitally on Sony LIV in India and the subcontinent.

Organised under the aegis of the Olympic Council of Asia, the Asian Games is one of the largest sporting events in the region, featuring athletes competing across more than 40 disciplines. The 2026 edition will include popular sports such as cricket, tennis, esports, kabaddi, and sepak takraw, alongside newer additions like mixed martial arts and surfing.

India heads into the tournament on a high note after its record-breaking performance in the previous edition, where it secured 107 medals-its best-ever tally. This achievement has significantly boosted interest in multi-sport events across the country.

Rajesh Kaul of SPNI highlighted that the Asian Games represent both sporting excellence and national pride. He noted that India’s recent success has amplified audience enthusiasm, and the inclusion of cricket is expected to further elevate viewership. SPNI aims to deliver immersive, multi-platform coverage to bring fans closer to the action.

Husain Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, welcomed the partnership, calling it a new phase in expanding the reach of the Asian Games across the Indian subcontinent.

With this acquisition, SPNI strengthens its sports portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to delivering premium international sporting events to Indian audiences.
