Ahead of National Doctors’ Day, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has revived its flagship #SecondBirthDate campaign, celebrating the life-changing role doctors play in helping patients recover and rebuild their lives. This year’s edition features Indian T20I captain Shreyas Iyer, whose personal recovery story forms the heart of the initiative.
The campaign is built around the idea that doctors often give patients more than medical treatment—they offer a second chance at life. Through stories of resilience, recovery and gratitude, #SecondBirthDate encourages people to acknowledge the healthcare professionals who have made a lasting impact on their lives.
The latest campaign film revisits Iyer’s recovery after he suffered a life-threatening injury during a match against Australia in Sydney in 2025. Following a fall that caused a ruptured spleen and internal bleeding, the cricketer underwent critical treatment before making a successful return to professional cricket.
Reflecting on his journey, Shreyas Iyer said the experience reminded him how quickly life can change and expressed gratitude to the doctors and medical teams who supported his recovery. He described dedicating his “second birth date” as a tribute to those who helped him return to the game he loves.
Commenting on the initiative, Kirti Ganorkar, Managing Director, Sun Pharma, said the campaign recognises doctors for bringing hope, healing and reassurance during life’s most difficult moments, while highlighting the countless second chances they make possible.
The 2026 edition will roll out across digital, print and outdoor platforms, supported by celebrity and influencer stories, including participation from Remo D’Souza. Sun Pharma is also inviting people to thank doctors by creating personalised digital messages through the #SecondBirthDate platform.
