Wondrlab in talks to acquire Madison World in ₹1,000 crore deal

India’s advertising industry could be headed for a landmark consolidation, with Wondrlab reportedly in discussions to acquire Madison World, even as global networks and private equity firms continue to circle the independent agency. Industry sources value Madison at around ₹1,000 crore.

Founded in 1988 by industry veteran Sam Balsara, Madison has grown from a media specialist into a diversified communications group spanning media, creative, PR, digital, outdoor, mobile, sports and influencer marketing. For months, the company has been exploring the sale of a 70% stake, attracting interest from international consultancies and networks. The latest round of talks is said to involve a financial advisor-an indicator that the process has become more structured and potentially time-bound.

Wondrlab’s interest adds a domestic dimension to the deal narrative. Founded by Saurabh Varma, the network has positioned itself as a digital-first challenger brand. A combination with Madison would unite legacy scale with new-age integration, creating a significant Indian alternative to multinational holding companies.

The buzz comes amid heightened consolidation across advertising and media. Globally, the $13.25 billion merger between Omnicom and Interpublic Group signalled a push toward scale and integration, while networks like WPP continue internal restructuring.

Despite losing key accounts in 2024, Madison has retained marquee clients and secured new mandates in 2025, underscoring resilience. Whether this results in a global takeover or an Indian consolidation, Madison now sits at the centre of a pivotal deal cycle in the country’s ad landscape.
