YouTube Ad Revenue Hits $9.8 Billion as Alphabet Reports Strong Q2 2025

Alphabet Inc. reported strong second-quarter results for 2025, with YouTube ad revenue reaching $9.8 billion, up 13% year-on-year. The platform’s performance was a key contributor to Alphabet’s consolidated revenue of $96.4 billion, marking a 14% increase, while net income surged 19% to $28.2 billion, or $2.31 per share.

CEO Sundar Pichai credited Alphabet’s growing momentum to its AI-first strategy, stating during the earnings call that AI is “positively impacting every part of the business.” He highlighted YouTube’s strength and the performance of AI Overviews and AI Mode as central to the quarter’s success.

YouTube’s advertising growth was part of broader gains in the Google Services segment, which earned $82.5 billion, up 12% from the previous year. This segment also includes revenue from Google Searchsubscriptionsplatforms, and devices.

Meanwhile, Alphabet’s “subscriptions, platforms, and devices” unit-which covers YouTube Premium, YouTube TV, and other services-generated $11.2 billion, up from $9.3 billion in Q2 2024. The growth signals rising consumer demand for paid digital content and streaming options within YouTube’s ecosystem.

YouTube’s strong ad growth reflects the platform’s continued dominance in the digital video landscape, bolstered by Alphabet’s integration of AI tools and content innovation. The results further cement YouTube’s role as a core revenue engine within Alphabet’s portfolio, even as the company accelerates investments in AI technologies and subscription-based models.
