Lizol has announced its entry into the bathroom cleaning category with the launch of Lizol Fresh & Clean Bathroom Cleaner, marking a significant expansion of its product portfolio beyond floor cleaning solutions.
The move comes at a time when demand for specialised and purpose-built household cleaning products is rising across India. Increasing awareness around hygiene, along with evolving consumer preferences in both urban and non-urban markets, is driving growth in dedicated cleaning segments such as bathroom care.
Traditionally, Indian households relied on general-purpose cleaners like detergents and phenyl for multiple uses. However, bathrooms are now increasingly seen as spaces that require targeted cleaning solutions, contributing to the rapid growth of branded bathroom cleaners.
Industry estimates indicate that the Indian household cleaning products market, valued at USD 8.09 billion in 2024, is projected to reach USD 11.95 billion by 2033, highlighting the strong potential in this segment.
Lizol’s new offering is positioned as a purpose-built bathroom cleaning solution, featuring antibacterial properties, strong surface adherence, and long-lasting fragrance. The brand aims to combine effective germ protection with ease of use, catering to modern consumers seeking efficient and convenient cleaning products.
Gautam Rishi, marketing director, Hygiene at Reckitt – South Asia, noted that bathrooms are no longer viewed as purely functional spaces but as an important part of how clean and fresh a home feels. He added that the new product reflects Reckitt’s focus on science-led innovation, offering cleaning performance along with freshness that can last up to 12 hours.
With this launch, Lizol is strategically expanding into a high-growth category, strengthening its presence in the broader household hygiene market and aligning with the shift towards specialised cleaning solutions.
