Kansai Nerolac Paints has taken product demonstration to new heights-literally-by testing its exterior paint at 86,000 feet above Earth in a stratospheric campaign conceptualised with ULKA.
As part of the #OutOfThisWorld initiative, the brand launched a high-altitude balloon carrying a payload coated with its Excel Everlast range. The experiment exposed the paint to extreme conditions, including temperatures below -64°C, intense UV radiation, and low atmospheric pressure-an environment typically known to degrade surfaces rapidly.
The result: the payload returned intact, with the paint showing no visible damage. By opting for a real-world test instead of controlled lab simulations, Kansai Nerolac aimed to reinforce its durability claims through a tangible, high-impact demonstration.
The campaign film documents the entire journey, transforming a technical validation into compelling storytelling. It also highlights the brand’s focus on innovation, with the Excel Everlast range positioned as a high-performance solution engineered for long-term resilience. Features like nano-silica technology and extended warranty support further strengthen this positioning.
This approach marks a shift in category communication-from conventional before-and-after demos to science-led brand storytelling at scale. By taking its product to near-space conditions, Kansai Nerolac not only proves performance but also elevates the narrative around durability.
In a category driven by functional claims, the brand turns validation into spectacle-making the message clear: if the paint can survive the stratosphere, it can handle anything on Earth.
