Swiggy Instamart’s latest campaign uses a fictional “25-year anniversary” as a clever setup to unpack a very real consumer behaviour – how habit, more than genuine preference, quietly drives everyday shopping choices.
The film opens with a woman fondly recalling nearly 25 years of “having tea” daily with her husband, only for the scene to reveal she’s actually talking about the same packaged namkeen she’s bought for decades, with a mountain of it piled beside her. An Instamart delivery partner spots the stash and gently calls it out – “Whole life with the same snack only?” – nudging her to reconsider a choice she’d never actually questioned. He then introduces her to a palm-oil-free alternative, turning a throwaway comment into a moment of discovery.
The film is built around Instamart’s ‘Switch’ proposition, rooted in the insight that familiarity, not necessarily quality, often decides what ends up in the cart. Rather than lecturing consumers, the campaign leans on humour and relatability to make the idea of trying something different feel effortless rather than disruptive.
Mayur Hola, head of brand at Swiggy, said much of everyday buying runs on autopilot rather than active evaluation, and that ‘Switch’ was designed to reframe that habit as something worth gently interrupting – nudging exploration without dictating choice, since sometimes a small switch is enough to find something better.
The film closes on Instamart’s “Better products at better prices” line, tying the emotional narrative back to the platform’s core promise of surfacing differentiated alternatives during routine shopping.
