Tata Play has launched Tata Play Reality TV, a round-the-clock, ad-free channel dedicated to Hindi reality television, in partnership with Shemaroo Entertainment. The service kicks off with two archival seasons of Bigg Boss, with plans to expand the content library in the months ahead.
At launch, the channel features Bigg Boss Season 1 (2006-07), hosted by Arshad Warsi and won by Rahul Roy, alongside Season 11 (2017-18), hosted by Salman Khan and won by Shilpa Shinde – both seasons featuring contestants like Ravi Kishan, Rakhi Sawant and Hina Khan, ensuring built-in nostalgia appeal.
Fresh episodes from both seasons will air daily, and the channel will supplement full-length content with curated short clips capturing the show’s most talked-about moments – fights, friendships and dramatic exits – designed to keep the format engaging even for viewers revisiting old seasons.
The service went live ad-free from September 11, available on Tata Play Channel No. 150, with on-the-go access through the Tata Play mobile app for viewers who want continuity between TV and mobile screens.
The move reflects a broader industry pattern of DTH and streaming platforms carving out dedicated, genre-specific channels from their content archives – turning past hit properties into standalone, binge-friendly destinations rather than letting them sit unused in a library, while also giving platforms a differentiated, ad-free value proposition to justify subscriber retention in an increasingly crowded entertainment market.
