Vi Movies & TV, the content aggregation platform from telecom operator Vi, has announced its entry into the rapidly growing microdrama category, strengthening its entertainment offerings for India’s mobile-first audiences.
The new content format will be introduced through a partnership with the Bullet Microdrama app, allowing users to access short serialized dramas directly through the Vi Movies & TV app.
Microdramas – short, episodic stories designed specifically for smartphone viewing – are witnessing strong traction across India. Industry reports indicate that India accounted for 11% of global microdrama platform downloads in Q1 2025, reaching nearly 35 million downloads.
The segment is expected to witness rapid expansion, with the Indian microdrama market projected to touch $1.5 billion by 2026 and grow to $4.5 billion by 2030.
This growth is being driven by increasing smartphone penetration, rising digital adoption in Tier II and Tier III cities, and changing viewing preferences among younger consumers.
The category has also shown impressive engagement metrics, with average daily watch times ranging between 40 to 90 minutes and completion rates exceeding 90%, making it one of the fastest-growing content formats.
Vi’s microdrama library will feature multilingual titles across genres such as romance, drama, comedy, and thriller. The lineup includes shows like Rickshaw Romeo, AutoRaja, Lady Boss, Comedy Couple, and Sweet 16, catering to diverse regional audiences.
The launch aligns with Vi’s strategy of expanding its free content ecosystem. Through Vi Movies & TV, subscribers can already access content from over 20 OTT platforms and 400+ live TV channels on a single app.
With this move, Vi strengthens its position as a one-stop entertainment destination while adapting to the growing demand for quick, engaging, and mobile-first storytelling experiences.
