Instagram has announced the global launch of Instagram Plus, a premium subscription service designed to offer users greater personalisation, enhanced engagement tools and deeper insights while keeping the platform’s core experience free for all users.
The new offering introduces a range of exclusive features aimed at helping users customise their profiles, strengthen social interactions and gain more control over how they share and manage content on the platform.
Among the key additions are Story Spotlight, which boosts the visibility of subscribers’ stories among friends, and Super Hearts, allowing users to send animated reactions to stories. Instagram Plus subscribers will also be able to create unlimited custom story-sharing groups through Multiple Story Audiences and extend story visibility from 24 hours to 48 hours using the Story Extend feature.
To help users better understand audience engagement, Instagram Plus includes tools such as Story Rewatch Insights, which shows how many times a story has been viewed again, and Story Preview, allowing users to preview stories before responding. Another feature, Search Viewer List, enables users to quickly check whether a specific follower has viewed their story.
The subscription also focuses on profile customisation. Users can access exclusive app icon designs, choose custom bio fonts, pin up to six posts on their profiles and publish content directly to their profile without displaying it in followers’ feeds.
With Instagram Plus, the platform is expanding its premium offerings for users seeking more flexibility and control over their social media experience. Instagram said the service is rolling out globally and that additional subscriber-only features are expected to be introduced in the coming months.
