AbhiBus, the bus-ticketing arm of ixigo, has launched an industry-first Roadside Assistance programme aimed at supporting travellers in the event of unexpected bus breakdowns during their journey.
The new initiative promises cab assistance within 45 minutes if a bus booked through the platform experiences a breakdown en route. The service will be provided at no additional cost, with AbhiBus covering the entire expense of the alternate transport arrangement to help passengers continue their journey with minimal disruption.
The launch comes at a time when intercity bus travel continues to grow across India, particularly in Tier II and Tier III markets. While operators maintain service standards, unforeseen mechanical issues can occasionally impact travel plans. Through this programme, AbhiBus is extending its role beyond ticket bookings to provide support during critical moments of a customer’s journey.
By offering guaranteed cab support during breakdowns, the company aims to address one of the biggest concerns associated with bus travel-being stranded on highways. The move reflects AbhiBus’ broader focus on enhancing reliability, accountability and customer confidence in the intercity travel ecosystem.
Commenting on the launch, Rohit Sharma, COO of AbhiBus, said the initiative is rooted in the company’s commitment to customer experience. He noted that while AbhiBus works closely with trusted operators and offers safety-focused booking features, the company also recognises the stress travellers face during unexpected disruptions and wants to ensure they receive timely assistance.
To promote the new service, AbhiBus has unveiled a campaign featuring actor and dancer Prabhu Deva.
The Roadside Assistance programme joins the company’s growing suite of customer-centric offerings, including Abhi Assured refunds, the Filter New Bus feature, and 360-degree bus previews designed to make travel planning more transparent and dependable.
