Canadian activewear giant lululemon is making its India debut, with the brand confirming its first store will open at DLF Promenade, New Delhi, later this autumn. The launch is being executed through a franchise partnership with Tata CLiQ, marking lululemon’s entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
The New Delhi outlet will stock lululemon’s signature performance apparel and accessories for men and women, spanning categories such as yoga, Pilates, running, training, tennis, golf and everyday wear. Beyond retail, the store is designed to double as a community hub, hosting brand ambassadors and local fitness enthusiasts.
Simultaneously, Tata CLiQ will bring lululemon onto its digital platforms, Tata CLiQ Luxury and Tata CLiQ Fashion, giving the brand a pan-India online presence alongside its physical footprint.
Sarah Clark, SVP, EMEA at lululemon, called the India entry a proud milestone, noting that the brand has spent time building community ties in New Delhi ahead of launch, given the city’s active and style-conscious consumer base.
Gopal Asthana, CEO of Tata CLiQ, echoed the sentiment, stating that Indian consumers are increasingly drawn to performance-driven, lifestyle-oriented products, and expressed confidence that lululemon’s philosophy would resonate strongly.
With this move, India joins lululemon’s expanding global footprint, which now spans more than 30 markets. The brand has been aggressive with its franchise-led international strategy this year, having already entered Poland, Greece, Hungary and Romania through similar partnerships – positioning India as its next big growth bet in the activewear space.
