WPP Media’s EssenceMediacom has successfully retained Uber’s media mandate across the Asia-Pacific region following a competitive regional pitch, extending a partnership that has been in place since 2017.
The renewed mandate covers seven key APAC markets, including Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The business will continue to be managed from Australia, with Maddison Keogh, Client Managing Partner, overseeing integrated teams across the region.
The agency will continue to support Uber’s media strategy through a regional operating model that combines centralised planning with local market expertise, enabling tailored campaigns while maintaining consistency across diverse markets.
Commenting on the renewal, Pippa Berlocher, EssenceMediacom, said, “We’re incredibly proud to continue our partnership with Uber across APAC. Working across such dynamic markets has helped build a trusted relationship. By combining data, technology, creativity and human expertise, we’re excited to unlock new opportunities and drive Uber’s next phase of growth.”
Lee Walsh, Global Head of Media at Uber, said the decision followed an extensive request-for-proposal (RFP) process.
“EssenceMediacom demonstrated that they are the right partner to support our ambitions across APAC. Their strong strategic thinking, deep local market expertise and clear understanding of our business stood out throughout the process. We were also impressed by their vision for leveraging data, technology and AI to accelerate our future growth,” Walsh said.
The account renewal comes after a successful year for Uber’s marketing efforts, with campaigns receiving recognition at several industry platforms, including the Festival of Media APAC, Festival of Media Global, Cairns Crocodiles and the MFA Awards.
With the renewed mandate, EssenceMediacom will continue leading Uber’s media planning and execution across the region as the mobility platform strengthens its presence and growth strategy in APAC.
