Bigbasket has launched bbinstant in Kolkata, extending its quick commerce footprint into corporate offices, workplaces, and residential communities across the city.
bbinstant operates through cashless, unmanned smart stores stocked with snacks, beverages, ready-to-eat food, and other daily essentials. The vending machines run round the clock, are restocked daily to ensure freshness, and support multiple payment options, allowing users to make purchases without needing cash or staff assistance.
Speaking on the launch, Seshu Kumar Tirumala, Chief Operating Officer at bigbasket, said convenience has always been central to the brand’s identity, and bbinstant pushes that further by placing it quite literally at people’s doorsteps. He described Kolkata as a city that rarely slows down, noting that the company wants residents and working professionals to have access to fresh, quality products at any hour, whether early morning or late at night, without having to step outside their buildings to find them. He added that bigbasket is glad to become part of Kolkata’s everyday rhythm through this initiative.
The Kolkata rollout marks a further expansion of bbinstant’s presence within institutional and community settings, building on its existing footprint in similar environments elsewhere. It also complements bigbasket’s broader quick commerce network, reinforcing the company’s strategy of embedding itself into everyday consumer routines through always-available, low-friction retail touchpoints positioned closer to where people live and work, rather than relying solely on traditional delivery models.
