India’s advertising, media and communications fraternity gathered at Goafest 2026 to felicitate Padma Shri Prasoon Joshi on his appointment as Chairman of Prasar Bharati, India’s public service broadcaster – a role he now holds in addition to his position as Chairman of Omnicom Advertising India.

The felicitation recognised not merely a professional appointment, but a convergence of creativity, cultural understanding and national purpose – qualities that have defined Joshi’s extraordinary career across advertising, cinema, literature and public communication.

One of contemporary India’s most respected creative voices, Joshi has shaped some of the country’s most enduring cultural and brand narratives over decades. He has previously served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification and is the author of several books. His appointment to Prasar Bharati signals an intent to bring renewed creative energy and cultural sensitivity to India’s national broadcaster – an institution tasked with informing, connecting and reflecting the nation in all its diversity.

Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said recognition from one’s own fraternity carries a deep sense of responsibility, adding that advertising had continuously sharpened his understanding of people, culture and storytelling – an understanding he now hopes to apply in service of a larger public purpose through Prasar Bharati.

Industry leaders present acknowledged his rare ability to bridge creativity, governance and public communication – a combination that positions him uniquely to strengthen the relevance and future-facing vision of India’s public broadcasting landscape.
