Hyundai Motor India Turns 30 and Lets AI Tell the Story

Hyundai Motor India is turning 30 – and it chose a rather unexpected storyteller to mark the occasion: a child, and artificial intelligence.

The brand has unveiled an AI-led film that traces its three-decade journey in India through the perspective of a young child, recreating defining moments from a portfolio that has quietly shaped how middle-class India thinks about cars. From the Santro – a small car that arrived in 1996 and rewrote the segment – to the Accent, Verna, i10 and i20, the film moves through Hyundai’s generational hits before arriving at its current lineup of the Creta, Venue and Alcazar. The electric chapter gets its moment too, with the Ioniq 5 and Creta Electric representing where the brand is headed.

What makes the execution noteworthy is the use of AI to revisit and reconstruct past product eras in a way that feels immersive rather than archival. Instead of a straightforward retrospective, the technology allows the brand to blend nostalgia with visual freshness – old models rendered with new clarity, familiar moments seen through unfamiliar eyes.

Virat Khullar, Head of Marketing at Hyundai Motor India, described the film as an attempt to reimagine the journey rather than simply replay it – blending a backward glance with a forward-looking perspective.

For a brand that entered India in 1996 and has since become one of its most consistent automotive presences, thirty years is worth more than a highlight reel. Hyundai seems to know that.
