Indicus Paints has introduced Neotė, a luxury interior emulsion designed for the South Indian market, with a visual identity deeply rooted in Tamil cultural heritage. Crafted by PlusOne Design, the branding blends tradition with contemporary aesthetics to create a distinctive premium positioning.
The identity system draws inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s artistic, architectural, and performative traditions, transforming cultural symbolism into a modern design language.
The packaging incorporates iconic Tamil cultural references, including Bharatanatyam, intricate Kolam patterns, and classical instruments such as the Veena and Nadaswaram. It also pays tribute to architectural landmarks like Meenakshi Temple, creating a visual narrative that celebrates regional identity.
A rich purple palette anchors the brand’s luxury appeal, while the Neotė logo takes typographic inspiration from the rhythmic flow of Tamil script. This fusion of heritage-inspired detailing and contemporary minimalism positions the product as a culturally resonant offering in the premium interiors segment.
Speaking about the launch, Gokul Basker said the vision behind Neotė was to create more than just a luxury paint brand. He emphasised that the product is a tribute to Tamil Nadu’s artistic legacy, proving that modernity can reinterpret tradition rather than replace it.
Gautam Patil added that the project involved engaging deeply with Tamil culture as a living system of rhythm, form, and expression, allowing the brand to feel both timeless and contemporary.
With Neotė, Indicus Paints signals a larger shift in Indian branding – one where luxury is increasingly defined through cultural authenticity and regional storytelling.
