Instamart Turned Sibling Fights Into a Chocolate Debt This Raksha Bandhan

Instamart has teamed up with Mondelez India to turn every sibling squabble into a sweet reckoning this Raksha Bandhan, with the launch of its Sibling Debt Calculator – a digital tool that converts years of petty grievances into Cadbury Dairy Milk bars.

The mechanic is simple. Users tick off 10 relatable sibling “offences” – think stolen chocolates, borrowed clothes never returned, remote-control wars, or getting ratted out to parents. Each offence racks up 10 points, and every 10 points equals one Dairy Milk bar owed. Once the final tally is in, users can fire off a pre-filled WhatsApp message to the guilty sibling, spelling out exactly how many bars they owe. The sibling can then head straight to Instamart and add the chocolates to their cart – debt settled, instantly.

The campaign has found a life of its own on social media, with users screenshotting their scores, tagging siblings, and turning it into a full-blown comparison game. One LinkedIn user shared that her sister racked up 50 points (five chocolates deep) and got a dry “Seriously?” in response. An Instagram user framed it simply as revenge time.

By gamifying an emotion every Indian sibling relationship runs on – playful score-settling – Instamart and Mondelez have built a campaign that’s equal parts nostalgia, humour, and frictionless commerce. Instamart, live since August 2020, now operates in 131+ cities across India, making the ask-to-cart journey nearly instant.
