Pinterest’s AI Ad Engine Pushes Revenue Past the $1 Billion Mark

Pinterest delivered a strong start to 2026, reporting first-quarter revenue of $1.008 billion, an 18% year-on-year increase, as artificial intelligence-powered advertising tools continued to drive platform growth and strengthen advertiser confidence.

Advertising remains the company’s primary revenue source, making the strong quarterly performance a clear sign of improving monetisation. On a constant currency basis, revenue rose 15%, reflecting stable underlying demand across key markets.

A major contributor to this growth was Pinterest’s expanding user base. The platform’s global monthly active users climbed 11% to a record 631 million. Regionally, users in the US and Canada reached 106 million, Europe grew to 159 million, while the rest of the world contributed 367 million users, highlighting strong international momentum.

The growth was largely volume-led. Ad impressions surged 24% compared to the same quarter last year, while average ad prices declined 5%. This indicates that Pinterest’s revenue gains were driven by higher ad delivery and broader reach rather than premium pricing.

The company credited its AI-powered ad solutions, enhanced visual search capabilities, and shopping-focused features for improving ad targeting and campaign efficiency. CEO Bill Ready noted that the platform’s AI-driven advertising ecosystem and high user engagement were central to its performance.

Pinterest continues evolving into a performance-led shopping platform, particularly attractive to brands targeting younger audiences. Gen Z now accounts for more than half of its global users.

Looking ahead, the company expects second-quarter revenue between $1.133 billion and $1.153 billion, signalling continued confidence in its AI-first advertising strategy and long-term growth potential.
