Shemaroo Filmi Gaane Hits 75M Subscribers, Turns the Spotlight on Music’s Unsung Legends

Shemaroo Filmi Gaane’s new IP, “Celebrating 75 Music Legends,” puts the spotlight on the artists who shaped Hindi film music, timed to the channel crossing 75 million YouTube subscribers.

The 15-episode series will feature 75 singers, composers and lyricists across Hindi cinema’s decades, with each episode profiling five legends through stories, trivia and songs spanning different eras of the industry.

The subscriber milestone got its own brand film, built on the line “Safar alag, kisse alag… Gaane aaj bhi wahi.” Set to “Chala Jata Hoon, Kisi Dhun Mein,” the film threads through everyday India – an auto ride, a cab, a barbershop, a study session, a couple’s quiet moment, a retirement party – showing how one song can mean something different to each life it touches, before revealing the subscriber number at the close.

Saurabh Srivastava, COO – Digital Business at Shemaroo Entertainment, said Hindi film music’s staying power lies in this cross-generational pull – a decades-old track can be a first discovery for one listener and a nostalgia trigger for another. He added that the milestone reflects this bond, and the focus ahead is on making the music, artists and stories more accessible to new audiences.

Shemaroo Filmi Gaane’s library runs over 10,000 songs from the 1950s to today, pulling in roughly 300 million monthly views.
