Sony LIV has given its English film catalogue a major boost, adding over 150 titles from Sony Pictures Entertainment – a move timed just ahead of the next Spider-Man film’s theatrical run.

The new additions span the full Spider-Man franchise along with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, positioning the platform as a go-to destination for fans gearing up for the upcoming release. Beyond the web-slinger, the catalogue pulls in a mix of genres – action favourites like Jumanji and Charlie’s Angels, dramas such as The Pursuit of Happyness, biographical hits including Michael Jackson’s This Is It, and Hollywood staples like The Da Vinci Code, The Karate Kid (2010), 50 First Dates, My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Sony LIV describes the expansion as spanning superhero, action, drama, biographical and classic Hollywood content – essentially building out a one-stop library for English-language film viewers in India.
Adding to the buzz, actor Tom Holland sent across a message for Indian audiences as part of the announcement, tying the catalogue update directly to fan anticipation for his upcoming Spider-Man outing.
The timing isn’t incidental – platforms increasingly use franchise momentum to drive catalogue engagement, and pairing a fresh Spider-Man release with instant access to the character’s back catalogue (plus adjacent hits) is a clear play to capture both nostalgia-driven and new-release traffic in one sweep.
For Sony LIV, it’s as much a content-library flex as it is a fan-service moment.
