Urban Company has taken Kent RO Systems to the Delhi High Court, alleging that an advertising campaign targeting its Native water purifiers made false and misleading claims.
According to Urban Company’s regulatory filing, the company filed a defamation and product disparagement suit against Kent RO on August 11. The disputed campaign included advertisements and influencer-led social media content challenging Native’s two-year filter life and two-year no-servicing proposition.
Urban Company alleged that Kent’s campaign described the proposition as a “marketing gimmick” and claimed that using Native purifiers was “unsafe” and “risky” for consumers. The dispute involves Urban Company’s Native Mo, M1, M2, M1 Pro and M2 Pro models.
The matter was heard by the Delhi High Court on August 12. Following the hearing, Kent agreed to remove the disputed advertisements and social media posts and undertook not to publish similar promotional content that disparages Urban Company’s products.
The court directed Kent to remove the disputed material within 15 days from August 12. The order was uploaded on the High Court’s website on August 22.
The dispute highlights tensions around comparative advertising, over claims involving maintenance, filter replacement and ownership costs. It also comes amid patent-related legal disputes between the two companies.
