Varun Dhawan has invested in Better Nutrition, a biofortified staples brand, and joined the company as its brand ambassador. He joins existing ambassador PV Sindhu. His association began after he acquired agricultural land and started exploring the soil, seeds and food produced on his farm. That farm is now set to be developed as a biofortified farm in collaboration with the brand.
Better Nutrition offers atta, dal, rice and millets that it says contain up to twice the levels of iron, zinc and other essential micronutrients. The company relies on biofortified seeds, soil science and farm-level testing, including X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology, to measure nutrient levels in crops.
Dhawan said he is working with the brand to make his farm biofortified, and that Better Nutrition is now his brand too. He said he likes the mission behind it and wants to be part of the journey, adding that audiences will see much more of him with the brand. Prateek Rastogi, Co-founder and CEO of Better Nutrition, said making everyday food more nutritious takes more than a claim on a packet. It starts with the seed, the soil and the farmer, followed by testing and validation through to the food.
Rastogi added that Dhawan understood this quickly, and that his decision to invest and convert his own farm shows how deeply he connects with the mission. His farming journey has also drawn enquiries from other farm owners, and the company has opened applications for its Biofortified Farm programme, where owners can submit details for evaluation.
