Vi’s New Ad Turns a Pronunciation Lesson Into a Musical Moment

Vi has rolled out a new film following its recent rebrand, built around teaching audiences the correct way to say its name.

The official music video features actor Rohit Saraf alongside comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath, content creator Niharika NM, and Kamiya Jani and Kunal Vijayakar. The film opens with Saraf shooting an ad and delivering the line “Vi has changed,” only for the director, played by Rath, to cut the shot repeatedly. After several retakes, an increasingly frustrated Saraf asks what he’s doing wrong, and Rath points out that he’s mispronouncing “Vi.”

The moment sets off an energetic, sing-along track dedicated to getting the pronunciation right, with Jani, Vijayakar and Niharika joining in as the pronunciation lesson turns into a full-blown musical sequence featuring the ensemble cast.

The campaign leans on humour and a familiar cast to make a simple brand message – how to say “Vi” – land in a more memorable, entertaining format, tying directly into the brand’s recent identity refresh.

The film, which released on September 5, keeps its narrative straightforward: rather than a conventional brand film, it uses a lighthearted, musical device to reinforce name recall following the rebrand. The combination of comedic timing, a catchy song and recognisable faces gives the otherwise simple concept added energy, even as the underlying idea remains uncomplicated – a reminder that post-rebrand messaging doesn’t always need a complex narrative to stay engaging and shareable.
