VML India has launched a new brand film for Saint-Gobain India that takes direct aim at one of the most deeply ingrained misconceptions about glass – that it is inherently fragile and prone to breakage.
Conceptualised by VML India, the campaign draws on a cultural memory shared across generations of Indian households: children playing neighbourhood cricket, and the near-universal parental warning about broken windowpanes that follows an ambitious shot. This familiar anxiety has long shaped how and where children play, reinforcing the entrenched belief that glass and cricket are an incompatible combination.
The film uses this relatable domestic scenario to demonstrate how modern branded toughened glass has evolved significantly in strength, safety, and everyday durability. The narrative reframes a product truth within an emotionally resonant story, aiming to shift consumer perception and encourage more informed material choices in residential and commercial construction.
The campaign is particularly timely as glass usage in Indian homes and buildings continues to grow, yet a considerable share of the retail segment still relies on glass in its annealed – and comparatively weaker – form. Saint-Gobain has been building its Assured Processor Network to address this gap, enabling consumers to access certified toughened glass under the tagline ‘As Tough As Glass.’
Babita Baruah, CEO of VML India, noted that the campaign’s strength lies in the organic convergence of cultural insight and product truth – subverting a familiar expectation rather than dramatising toughness through conventional means.
The film is being distributed across digital, social media, and television platforms, including IPL spots, as part of Saint-Gobain India’s broader consumer awareness drive around high-performance building materials.
