Flipkart has built an entire fictional world around its upcoming Big Bang Diwali Sale. The campaign introduces Diwali, an imaginary village in Punjab where the festival is a way of life. In the film, doorbells are crackers, an anaar steps in when the power goes out, and fireworks make an appearance even during Holi.
The idea leads shoppers to deals hidden across the village. Flipkart has also launched a microsite, Diwalidedeals.com, where users can explore the village, uncover offers and unlock coupons to use during the sale. The Big Bang Diwali Sale begins on October 28, with deals across electronics, appliances, fashion and other categories.
The campaign is the latest example of Flipkart turning sale communication into a world of its own instead of simply listing discounts. Earlier this year, for SASA LELE 2.0, the brand travelled to Kodinhi, a Kerala village known for its high number of twin births. Conceptualised by 22feet, the Kodinhi Code campaign used the phenomenon as a metaphor for “sale par sale”, with residents’ purchases unlocking double offers for consumers nationwide.
Flipkart has also embraced cheekier territory. Its Only Fans campaign for Cooling Days played on the adult-platform association before revealing a family talking about cooling appliances, drawing mixed reactions online. Its larger festive pushes follow the same spirit: Big Billion Days 2026 features Rohit Sharma, Sreeleela, Aneet Padda, Jackie Shroff and Samay Raina, building on last year’s celebrity-led campaign.
