CNN-News18 has expanded its programming lineup with the launch of ‘Raw Report’, a new weekday news show anchored by senior journalist Shawan Sen. Premiering on August 3, the programme will air at 12 pm and 10 pm across television, Connected TV (CTV) and YouTube.
Designed to combine live reporting with in-depth analysis, Raw Report aims to move beyond breaking headlines by delivering exclusive stories, on-ground reportage and contextual insights into the day’s biggest developments. The show will focus on original journalism while providing viewers with a deeper understanding of key national and international events.
The 12 pm edition will centre on the day’s most significant developing story, using field reports, visuals and data-driven graphics to explain events as they unfold. The 10 pm edition will offer a comprehensive wrap-up of the day’s top stories, presenting a 360-degree perspective through detailed reporting and expert analysis.
Each episode will also feature an exclusive news break and an interview with a key newsmaker, reinforcing the channel’s focus on enterprise journalism.
Alongside the show’s launch, Shawan Sen has rejoined CNN-News18 as Executive Editor – Enterprise & Special Investigations, marking his second stint with the network. He previously worked with CNN-IBN between 2012 and 2016 and has held editorial roles at Republic TV, The Times of India, The Indian Express and Times Network.
Commenting on the launch, Rahul Shivshankar, Editorial Affairs Director at CNN-News18, said the show reflects the network’s commitment to evolving news formats while maintaining editorial credibility. Shawan Sen added that Raw Report is built on fact-based, on-ground journalism with the aim of delivering verified information and helping audiences better understand the stories shaping the news cycle.
