Golf, But Faster and Louder: Sony Brings LIV’s High-Energy League to South Asia

The fairway just got a broadcast upgrade. Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has partnered with LIV Golf to bring the 2026 LIV Golf League season to screens across South Asia-marking a significant push to grow the sport’s reach in the region.

Under the deal, fans in countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka can catch live tournament action on Sony Sports Network and stream it via Sony LIV. This expands SPNI’s existing agreement around The International Series, co-sanctioned by LIV Golf and the Asian Tour-a pathway that feeds talent into the main league and major championships.

What makes LIV Golf stand out isn’t just the players-it’s the format. Think shotgun starts (where all players tee off simultaneously), faster-paced rounds, and a blend of individual and team competition. The result? A more condensed, action-heavy viewing experience that fits neatly into a 4–5 hour window-something modern audiences increasingly prefer.

For SPNI, the partnership strengthens its sports portfolio with a property that’s as much about entertainment as it is about competition. And for LIV Golf, it unlocks a massive, cricket-dominated market eager for new sporting formats.

Indian pro Anirban Lahiri, part of Crushers GC, sees this as a pivotal moment. Wider visibility, he notes, could inspire a new generation of golfers by bringing global-level competition closer to home.

In short, golf in this region is no longer just about patience-it’s about pace, personality, and prime-time appeal.
