Vodafone Idea, now widely known as Vi, has spent 19 years reinventing itself – from Hutch’s beloved pug mascot to a 2018 merger of two former rivals, and now to a rebrand fronted by Shah Rukh Khan. In September 2026, the brand’s signature yellow dot moved after six years beside the “V,” transforming into a fuller, glowing 3D sphere positioned above the “i.” The shift anchors a new campaign, “Vi badal raha hai… tayaar rahiye,” marking SRK’s first appearance as the brand’s ambassador.
Over the years, Vi’s campaigns have consistently mirrored the moment – from 2020’s Together for Tomorrow, which introduced India to a new brand name, to 2021’s #SpeedSeBadho during the remote-work boom, and 2025’s The Netties, which turned a lakh new towers into a cricket team. The 2026 campaign, Strong Network Sabka Haq, pushes a bolder promise of equal connectivity nationwide.
Beyond marketing, Vi Foundation has quietly built impact at scale -SmartAgri reaches 8.9 lakh farmers, Jaadu Ginni Ka has driven financial literacy for over 2 crore Indians, and e-Vidya has transformed 240 government schools.
The rebrand’s timing is notable: Vi’s stock hit a 25-month high the same week the new identity and SRK’s association were announced, alongside the company’s first net subscriber growth quarter since 2018. Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla has called FY27 the “year of execution and delivery.”
The dot has reached the top – whether the network’s performance follows will determine if this rebrand marks a genuine turnaround or just a fresh coat of paint.
